I was an ambitious kid who desired to be anything besides a teacher. As a student, my teachers always asked us to write down everything on the board, and I didn’t see any significance. Despite being last on the list, I pursued a degree in education and envisioned providing engaging and purposeful classes to encourage the next generation to be lifelong learners.
I am fond of learning by doing, as according to Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience, we learn 90% of what we do. I have been teaching the English language since 2018, and I understand how daunting learning a new language is, so I encourage my students to express their thoughts confidently and never be afraid of committing mistakes, as learning is sometimes a painful process. Still, I strive to make it more fun.
It was great to start this year in a new working environment with new experiences and a support system. Being part of the LCIC-CELS department is a great privilege, as they yearn for everyone’s personal and professional growth. Also, because of this, I realized my true passion is teaching.
