CELS provides many English language courses to international students from across Asia. In Aug ‘21, three Hiroshima Bunkyo University senior lecturers began initial curriculum development, supervision, & management of CELS, while the hiring of four initial local instructors happened in Jan ‘22. By the summer of ‘22, CELS began accepting students for 4-week trial programs followed by a full 18-week term from Aug – Dec. Current CELS faculty & staff include 32 EFL Instructors, a Curriculum Coordinator, an Assistant Curriculum Coordinator, a Director, & an Executive Advisor.
Curricula have evolved to comprise 25 CEFR-aligned courses, with most developed in-house alongside printed & e-book versions of content from traditional publishing houses & categorized accordingly. Visa regulations require students to enroll in 1 or 2 mandatory courses to get an SSP (Student Study Permit). All other courses are optional, with opportunities to also study various foreign languages such as Korean, Mandarin, Japanese & Filipino.
